I somehow subscribed at some point in my life to a daily inspirational quote email. I got this one today and it really struck a chord in me. A big enough chord to Tumblr it and I don’t come here as often as I should anymore, honey!
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. There are plenty of people willing to do that for you. Do your best and surrender the rest. Tell yourself, “I am doing the best I can with what I have in this moment. That is all I can ever expect of anyone, including me.” Love yourself and be proud of everything you do, even your mistakes, because your mistakes mean you’re trying.
If you feel like others are not treating you with love and respect, check your price tag. Perhaps you subconsciously marked yourself down. Because it’s YOU who tells others what you’re worth by showing them what you are willing to accept for your time and attention. So get off the clearance rack. If you don’t value and respect yourself, wholeheartedly, no one else will either.”

As a person who shops on the Clearance rack, I have struggles with everything this quote talks about. Here’s to all of us clearance rack shoppers out there moving up to the main section of the store in life.
i love this blog, the 90s and i kind of want to be your best friend! do you have to be an esthetician to do eyelashes in the state of CA? what school did you go to in Orange County?
You have to get a specific certification to lash- it’s separate from esthetician or cosmetology. I don’t remember the school I went to, but I think it said something about Blink eyes or something. They were great! I chose it cause they had a competitive price. Live in your truth and live your dream!
What kind of eyeliner do you use? That line is flawwwlleeesss.
Makeup Forever liner in the pot- If you use liquid liner, honey, throw it out. Pot liner with a fine tipped brush is WHERE IT’S AT. http://www.makeupforever.com/us/en-us/make-up/eyes/eye-shadow/aqua-black?sku=4820
Watching the SNL premiere episode (yet again) and looking at the new featured players... And I can't help but see you on the cast. Is that something you would ever want to do? Your style is so versatile and you would KILLLLLLLLLLLLL as a cast player!
Hey girl. It’s REALLY hard to get on SNL. You have to devote your life to that goal. I realized a couple years ago that although I got mad love and respect for SNL and all the people involved in the show, it’s not gonna be part of my journey. I want to be a host and sit-com actress and those are the goals I am working towards. My girl Noel is on SNL and she is a brilliant impressionist and has worked on her impressions for hours on end- and they’re flawless. Her hard work and dedication paid off- She belongs on SNL and she’s gonna be the next Kristen Wiig!
And One more thing while we're talking about being a woman
Friday night I went out to what I call “Da Club.” Which means one of those places in LA where there’s a list and no one dances even though the music is pulsating but no one wants to not look cool so they just stand around.
Since this was a special occasion, I got gussied up. More so than I do normally. I put on a new velvet dress and actually shaved my legs. I put on eyeshadow, which at this point in my life is considered to be a fancy occasion. When I was done getting ready, I looked in the mirror and I looked cute. I thought to myself “Johnson, you clean up nice. Look how good you look if you would just make some effort once and a while!” Cause truth be told, I wear no makeup and no bra at least 50% of my time, if not more. I only wear makeup during the week if I have an audition. One time I had a person say to me “Every time I see you you either look glamorous or homeless.” That pretty much summed me up.
So cut to: Yesterday. Interior. Bathroom.
I was about to go to lunch with my man and his mom. I had on no makeup and my glasses (I wear glasses half the time. Usually if I make the effort to put in my contacts then I also put on makeup to go along with that effort) and my bangs were scraggily and acting weird. But I looked at myself in the mirror, au natural.
And I thought “You know what, Johnson? You’re cute.”
I felt good about myself with no makeup! WHAT A CONCEPT!
So there you have it. Love yourself and your body, ladies. And dress how you feel good/beautiful, and not how you think others will you see you as such. Inner beauty will shine through (and probably will even better without makeup covering it up!)
“The rudest possible gift is a gift card. It means you think the person is stupid and has no interests. The only good gift card is Bitcoin. You practically have to be a hacker to know about it. I want a Bitcoin gift certificate. That’s a glamorous gift card. You can use it to buy hit men or drugs.”—John Waters (via natashavc)
